Volunteering
Have you ever considered volunteering in your community? Whether or not firefighting is you, you can still help out around the fire department. Residents of Marshall Township and surrounding areas 16 years of age or older are enouraged to apply to become a member of the fire company.
You can volunteer in the fire company in two ways:
- Company members. Everyone who is a committed volunteer at the fire department is a member. Members can help out in many ways as administrative support, committee representatives and community outreach.
- Brigade members. Folks that have committed to and completed the rigorous demands of training and education to become fire fighters. In addition to fighting fires and performing rescue operations, brigade members also carry out company member duties as well.
All members must attend a minimum number of meetings each year. They are expected to serve on one or more committees and assist in keeping the stations clean throughout the year. In addition, brigade members are expected to attend a number of training courses each year and ultimately complete Essentials of Fire Fighting, Basic Vehicle Rescue and Hazardous Materials Operations during their first two years.
